Woah, that plane just reached Mach 10! Talk about going the distance - it’s like it was shot out of a cannon. I’m sure the passengers were thrilled to get to their destination so quickly. It’s amazing what technology can do these days; who knows what we’ll be able to do next? All I know is, this plane just made history!

Wow! On that day, NASA really made a splash with the X-43A. It was the first ever air-breathing hypersonic vehicle to take flight and it set a record by reaching Mach 10 speed. Talk about making history!
- On October 14, 1967, the X-15 experimental aircraft became the first manned aircraft to reach Mach 10 (7,274 mph). The pilot of the X-15 was William J. Knight and he achieved this feat at an altitude of 102,100 feet. This marked a major milestone in aviation history as it was the first time a human had flown faster than any other man-made object.
